LABRFF shines a spotlight on the creativity, talent and beauty of the Brazilian cinema
With a long list of celebrities, notables and the like in attendance – from both the American and Brazilian movie industry – the Los Angeles Brazilian Film Festival (LABRFF) kicked off its 2010 edition with plenty of anticipation.
The Landmark Theatre is West L.A. was the stage for the festival that opened this past Tuesday, April 27 with the premiere of "Adrift" ('À Deriva'), by director Heitor Dhalia with Vincent Cassel and Camilla Belle.
Prior to the showing, the distinguished guests, TV and movie stars strolled over the red carpet where a wide array of media personnel battled for their attention and statements.

Among the many attendees, Isa Albuquerque, Julia Almeida, Rafael Alvarez, Camila Alves, Mario Amadeu, Igor and Ivan Spaceck, Guilherme Anders, Deborah Bapt, Camilla Belle, Vail Bloom, Michelli Buback, Julia Camara, Matthew Chapman, Caroline Correa, Igor Cotrim, Claudia Damaceno, Mateus Damasceno, Keith David, Daniel Dreyfuss, Denise Dummond, Bruno Fabrizi, Jesse Garcia, Henrique Goldman, Jen Gotzon, Rita Guedes, Kali Hawk, Gui Inacio, Tatiana Issa, Jim Jacks, Kenny Johnson, Sahada Josephina, Apolonia Kotero, Lee Krieger, Marcelo Lafitte, Fabio Lanzoni, Hermes Leal, Rodrigo Letier Pinto, Tom Malloy, Fernando Meirelles, Caco Monteiro, Barbara Paz, Daniel Picolo, Chris Pine, Rodrigo Pinto, Donald Ranvaud, Sergio Rezende, Ralph Rieckerman, Fernanda Romero, Angela Sarafyan, Carolina Shorter, Uri Singer, Steve Solot, Adam Tselkhman, Mateus Vianna, Jordi Vilasuso, Isaiah Washington, Shelby Young and Luciano Zafir.
After that, everyone moved on to the lounge upstairs to hang out before ‘popcorn time’.

After the movie, an exciting after-party got underway on the third floor, where snacks, appetizers, and drinks fueled the crowd into the dance floor until late in the evening.

The vibe was definitely a positive one during the entire night and to say the festival opening was a success is probably an understatement. More likely the LABRFF will grow larger and next year, it will capture even more the attention of Hollywood and the general public as well.

Feature Film

I’m also in the process of setting up my LLC. My
desired name is Alice Films, fingers crossed that it
will be available.
Here’s a short synopsis of the film:
“Open Road” is a drama and a road movie exploring a
character’s desire for solitude and freedom from the
modern world’s traps.
A woman running from her
past lives her life on the road. She meets a Highway
Patrol Officer after a car breakdown and settles down
in a small town. Things get serious between the two of
them, and she’ll have to face her past in order to have
a future.
And just a quick F.Y.I., I wrote “Open Road” in the
month of April as part of the 2010 script frenzy this
year. I have since done two more re-writes, but I being
a part of script frenzy really helped get it
done.
